Anxiety and Children

Children still feel the same emotions as any adult, but as children they may not understand or know how to deal with them. Stress and anxiety can come out in all sorts of ways with children and many express it through behavior. Others can become within themselves and not have any confidence or want to socialise with others.

Stress and anxiety can have a roll-on effect in a child’s development it can prevent a child from progressing at school, developing friendships and generally feeling comfortable in new environments. There are many factors what can cause stress and anxiety in children. It could be they are experiencing separation anxiety and don’t know how to deal with being without their parents. It could be they are going through a trauma or family crisis.

Its hard sometimes when adults go through situations but children also suffer. Anxiety can effect any child at different stages in their life it is important as adults to find ways to help children overcome anxiety and aid them through whatever type of anxiety they are going through.

Fidget toys and musical toys can be therapeutic for children with anxiety they can also help the child learn to relax. Anxiety can also be something more common with children with special needs and how they deal with emotions and anxiety. Children thrive best on routine and familiar faces. This is nothing to dissimilar to how adults feel we all have places and environments we feel less confident about. Just a change in an environment or setting can make a child feel out of place and bring on anxiety. Some children put their fingers in their ears or cover their eyes to deal with the situation. Others cry or become stressful. Perhaps having a cuddly toy to comfort them or a musical toy can aid them to relax.
